The Front Door at Grocer's Inn@ Jalan Sultan

I seldom or should i said i never did review for a cafe. But, the front door which i found in by random have a gem in its shop that I should write it out and share with everyone. Well, keep the food aside. We will get started with the shop environment. It keep the kuala lumpur old shop exterior and the sign board are those traditional china sign which let me feel so CHINA but the shop interior filled artistic drawing wall and furniture use brings to western feel. Which i found the whole concept are quite amusing and entertaining.
Back to the food, the front door do offer breakfast meals, pasta, salad and toast. Aye, i was attracted by the toast menu. It have few choices and every choice looks great but the one I had is actually recommended by the staff in charge.

The front door Signature Toast
Top: No.4 Cream cheese/cucumber ribbon/smoked salmon/capers
If this combination without capers is actually an ordinary salad you can found on the salad's menu at any shop. Capers act like an turnover, it made the toast become extraordinary from others. A tasteful and nutritional slice.
Middle : No.1 Honey/cheddar/bacon/strawberry
Interesting slice but are much better than expected. Bacon are fried to crisp but not too dry. Honey helps to give a slight sweet flavor and increase the smell of the toast.
Bottom : No.6 Mozzarella/green apple/almonds/salted caramel
Since green apple have the sweet but bring a little sour taste, the salted caramel give the other taste to it. But 3 taste combination are real great, nothing overcome the other. Almond give the crunchy bite to the toast

Tim Ho Wan @ Mid Valley

Tim Ho Wan, the famous hong kong dim sum store opened at Mid Valley. At least now we doesn't need to travel all the way to Hong Kong or Singapore to taste the authentic taste. The price range are on a higher price compare to the dim sum shop we had in our own resident garden.

 Steamed Egg Cake
This steamed egg cake is one of their signature dish and also my dad's favourite.
The cake are so fluffy and soft like cotton candy.
 Beef ball with beancurd skin
Okay this was quite disappointing, i was hopping to taste the beef but look like it the orange conquer the taste. the texture are more on flour.  Not really worth for a try
Baked Bun with BBQ pork (3piece)
This is the masterpiece in the restaurant and also one of the 4 signature dish. No jokes. Honest speaking i can easily finish 2 plates of 3 pieces by myself. A must order in the shop. The slightly crispy outer bun and soft inner bun that filled with the juicy bbq pork. The taste will sent you to heaven.
 Prawn dumpling
Inside feel with some big prawn but it kind of dry. Basically taste like the ordinary one we had in the dim sum shop that we visit anywhere.
Dumpling teochew style
It came with 3 pieces if my memory still doing fine. The dumpling skin are soft not to dry nor too sticky. Not a bad choice for dumpling other than the prawn one.
Congee with Lean pork, salted egg and century egg

Tonic Medlar & osmanthus cake
A good dessert, Refreshing and healty in the same time.
Pan Fried Carrot Cake
This is also the other main signature dish. The carrot cake are slightly oily but the carrot cake texture are the best i ever tried, It melts in your mouth and some diced Chinese sausage on it help on the flavor. Worth for try.
Mango Pomelo Sago
Mango lover should really tried. The entire bowl i can said used pure mangoes. Every spoon i felt like eating a mango. Better than other shop i tried.

Nana Green Tea Pt2

Aside from The Garden, Nana green tea do have another newly located shop at lower ground floor of 1Utama. The surrounding at 1 utama are far more comfy than the one at the Garden but they do offer the same menu. So, do check out my previous post for the review :)

 Chicken Cutlet Curry
Chicken are well fried and in big portion and mix with the fruity and sweet japanese curry.
The curry are thick unlike the one they used in udon.
Especially to japanese curry lover do give a try.
Chicken Teriyaki (can't rmb the full name)
If you're not going for curry but craving for chicken , do try the teriyaki even though this dish are not one of the lunch menu set. No regrets.
Chicken are grilled to tender, juicy as thigh part are being used.
It comes with salad dressed with sesame sauce and mayo mashed potato if im not mistaken,
But, this meal are a bit heavy since it have potatoes and rice at the same time,
Hojicha parfait
Hojicha is actually roasted green tea, so it taste a bit smoky.
Top layer: Cream, Hojicha ice cream, red bean paste, corn flakes and jelly coated with hojicha
The top layer give different surprise in texture and taste each bite.
The hojicha ice cream give bitter taste and cream texture,
red bean paste give a sticky struture and sweet taste,
Cream on top give a creamy texture and milky flavor
Corn flakes as usual crunchy texture
Lastly jelly, roasted hojicha with er soft texture
The combination of all above made an perfect starting not too sweet, not too bitter every taste in the right portion.
Lower Layer: Vanilla ice cream, Hojicha and jelly
The vanilla ice cream used is always my favourite, it have the creamy taste as McDonald ice cream but much more softer texture. It is a good refresh before tasting the Hojicha.
Hojicha are bitter but the jelly slightly reduce the bitterness

Overall: This is worth a try but definitely the green tea parfait at the previous post i personally preferable.

Do check out the previous post, thanks and enjoy!
