Fong Lye Taiwanese Restaurant 蓬莱茶房台湾料理 @ The Gardens

Apart from Nana's Green Tea and sushi zanmai, Fong Lye Taiwanese Restaurant is another long queue restaurant in the Gardens. It mainly serving the Taiwanese famous cuisine like 3 Variety Supreme Diced Chicken (三杯鸡)Spare ribs  (红糟排骨). As this restaurant is an non-halal restaurant, so it does offer pork in the meal.

 Sweet Potato Ball (地瓜球)
A overwhelming sweet potato taste once you bite which left a good first impression to the dish/
The deep fried sweet potato ball are not oily and it also have the crispy outer layer and chewy inter layer which make the dish interesting.

BBQ Pork set meal - RM19.80
As a pork lover, this dish actually made me have the will to visit this restaurant once a week.
The pork slice they used are not fatty but they manage to cook at the right tenderness.
Kimchi just like those we can get from all supermarkets nothing taste really special, but it goes along with meal.

3 Variety Supreme Diced Chicken Set (三杯鸡).
I think this is their signature dish, as i look at all the table  8 out of 10 had this dish on their table.
Sauce 三杯鸡 is actually, one "cup" of soy sauce, one "cup" of rice wine and one "cup" of oyster sauce.
Personally thought that the dish are quite salty but it goes really well with rice. Even though I'm not really a big fans of herbs when comes to Chinese cuisine but the herbs did a magic on as it lessen the saltiness and it give a refreshing taste to the chicken.

All Sets come with (white rice or rice with minced meat), 3 side dish of the day and Soup of the day

NANA's GREEN TEA @ The Gardens Mall

Nana's green tea is one of the current long queue restaurant because of their Parfiat. The average waiting hour during the lunch time would be around 15-20 minutes. Even though nana's green tea have a long waiting time but their waiter did a great service to help you during your waiting.

Chicken Karage Curry Udon + Green Tea ( Set Lunch Meal) RM18.8
The udon are soft and the chicken are fried to tender but the only disappointment is the curry are too watery. Slightly thicken curry will make the dish to perfection. Overall are acceptable.
Tori Soboro Don + Green Tea ( Set Meal RM18.8)
Tori Soboro Don is the minced chicken with bean sprout and pouched egg.
This dish gain a two thumbs up and my all time favourite  in this restaurant.
The pouched egg are watery enough to cover the dryness of rice.
The minced meat neither salty or tasteless.
Everything in the bowl accompanied each other well.

Wakame Udon (seaweed Udon)
This udon is a vegetarian choice. Its consists of seaweed, spring onion and egg.
The ingredients may sounds simple but it cooked a perfect bowl of udon.
But too bad this dish is not in the set lunch menu but is a worth for trying.
Matcha Shiratama Parfait @ RM 18.80
The main and popular dish in the shop.
Since Parfait is design for us to taste the different layer in a cup than i will describe it layer by layer
Upper: Whipped Cream + Green Tea Ice Cream + green Tea Cookies + Red Beans
At top layer, the whipped cream are not too oily and red bean are given in a right amount/
Green Tea Ice cream: The exact taste I been searching since i back from Japan.
Whipped Cream and red beans are good to neutralize the slightly bitterness of green tea ice cream.
Cookie. it taste bitter at the first bite but the more you bite the tastier and sweeter it get
Lower: Corn flakes + Vanilla ice cream + Green Tea Jelly.
Vanilla ice cream: a hidden card in the cup. The ice cream taste creamy and milky but they also have the softness and smoothness that found in FroYo.
Corn Flakes: Give a crunchy feel to the ending
Green Tea Pudding: A great hint for ending a dessert, that not that overwhelmed taste,

Even though the price of a Parfait is equal to a set lunch meal but it is a must try dessert in the shop. Friendly staff and a perfect meals are the reason attract me back to Nana's Green Tea.

Ying Ker Lou 迎客楼 Hakka Cuisine @ The Garden

As an hakka people, sometime you will crave for hakka food and here is definitely can get all the hakka cuisine in one shop- Ying Ker Lou. Its is located at the 2nd Floor of The Garden. This restaurant can be quite busy during peak hours though the food is worth waiting for. Ying Ker Lou doesn't use MSG in prepare food and it is an non-halal restaurant.

P01- 客家算盤子 Hakka Yam Abacus RM22.00
The yam abacus are pan-fried with mushrooms, minced pork, jew's ear, spring onion and fried garlic.
the whole dish taste good but the yam abacus are disappointing as the yam abacus are lack of the yam flavor. Anywhere can get a better Yam abacus than here.

K05-  HAKKA PAN MEE RM 15.90
This is a worth trying dish. It look simple but every drop of soup is treasure.
The shop taste clear neither tasteless or salty, but you can taste it uses anchovies and mushroom to prepare the soup.
The Pan Mee is the thinnest pan mee i ever had, the thinnest give a smooth texture to the pan mee but the taste still remain.

L01- Hakka Minced Pork BanTiao RM15.90
BanTiao for me it is actually taste like pan mee but just in noodle form.
The noodle are cook to just nice and the minced pork fits perfectly with the noodle.
Basically, Hakka people are actually quite a meat eater, and this is the key why we know better in prepare meat.

P34- XIAO LONG BAO WITH RICE WINE (4PCS) RM10.00
Ying Ker Lou xiao long bao are different from din tai fung or dragon-i as you can see it contain wine.
I shouldn't say the XLB contain rice wine, it should be they use rice wine as the soup base in xiao long bao. This is actually an interesting idea as normal xiao long bao we had are salty soup base but the rice wine give a sweet aroma to it.
But, the skin of the bao need a huge improvement.

The serving at Ying Ker Lou are not possible for sharing as it is quite small.
