Tim Ho Wan @ Mid Valley

Tim Ho Wan, the famous hong kong dim sum store opened at Mid Valley. At least now we doesn't need to travel all the way to Hong Kong or Singapore to taste the authentic taste. The price range are on a higher price compare to the dim sum shop we had in our own resident garden.

 Steamed Egg Cake
This steamed egg cake is one of their signature dish and also my dad's favourite.
The cake are so fluffy and soft like cotton candy.
 Beef ball with beancurd skin
Okay this was quite disappointing, i was hopping to taste the beef but look like it the orange conquer the taste. the texture are more on flour.  Not really worth for a try
Baked Bun with BBQ pork (3piece)
This is the masterpiece in the restaurant and also one of the 4 signature dish. No jokes. Honest speaking i can easily finish 2 plates of 3 pieces by myself. A must order in the shop. The slightly crispy outer bun and soft inner bun that filled with the juicy bbq pork. The taste will sent you to heaven.
 Prawn dumpling
Inside feel with some big prawn but it kind of dry. Basically taste like the ordinary one we had in the dim sum shop that we visit anywhere.
Dumpling teochew style
It came with 3 pieces if my memory still doing fine. The dumpling skin are soft not to dry nor too sticky. Not a bad choice for dumpling other than the prawn one.
Congee with Lean pork, salted egg and century egg

Tonic Medlar & osmanthus cake
A good dessert, Refreshing and healty in the same time.
Pan Fried Carrot Cake
This is also the other main signature dish. The carrot cake are slightly oily but the carrot cake texture are the best i ever tried, It melts in your mouth and some diced Chinese sausage on it help on the flavor. Worth for try.
Mango Pomelo Sago
Mango lover should really tried. The entire bowl i can said used pure mangoes. Every spoon i felt like eating a mango. Better than other shop i tried.

Nana Green Tea Pt2

Aside from The Garden, Nana green tea do have another newly located shop at lower ground floor of 1Utama. The surrounding at 1 utama are far more comfy than the one at the Garden but they do offer the same menu. So, do check out my previous post for the review :)

 Chicken Cutlet Curry
Chicken are well fried and in big portion and mix with the fruity and sweet japanese curry.
The curry are thick unlike the one they used in udon.
Especially to japanese curry lover do give a try.
Chicken Teriyaki (can't rmb the full name)
If you're not going for curry but craving for chicken , do try the teriyaki even though this dish are not one of the lunch menu set. No regrets.
Chicken are grilled to tender, juicy as thigh part are being used.
It comes with salad dressed with sesame sauce and mayo mashed potato if im not mistaken,
But, this meal are a bit heavy since it have potatoes and rice at the same time,
Hojicha parfait
Hojicha is actually roasted green tea, so it taste a bit smoky.
Top layer: Cream, Hojicha ice cream, red bean paste, corn flakes and jelly coated with hojicha
The top layer give different surprise in texture and taste each bite.
The hojicha ice cream give bitter taste and cream texture,
red bean paste give a sticky struture and sweet taste,
Cream on top give a creamy texture and milky flavor
Corn flakes as usual crunchy texture
Lastly jelly, roasted hojicha with er soft texture
The combination of all above made an perfect starting not too sweet, not too bitter every taste in the right portion.
Lower Layer: Vanilla ice cream, Hojicha and jelly
The vanilla ice cream used is always my favourite, it have the creamy taste as McDonald ice cream but much more softer texture. It is a good refresh before tasting the Hojicha.
Hojicha are bitter but the jelly slightly reduce the bitterness

Overall: This is worth a try but definitely the green tea parfait at the previous post i personally preferable.

Do check out the previous post, thanks and enjoy!

Wondermama X @ Avenue K

Its been a while since my last post and aye i am back.
Been for a visit to Wondermama X at Avenue K review are below.
All of the comments below are based on my own opinion. Enjoy .

 Seafood Tom Yam Fried Rice
You can find one scallop, one prawn and squid in this fried rice.
The rice texture are really well cooked but i think the spiciness cover the tomyam taste.
Scallop are the YOU WILL NEVER SHARE in this dish. It's taste really good but the prawn are little bit dry.
This is a worth to try if you're wanted some rice but not going for their nasi lemak .

 Nasi Lemak 2.0
Wondermama X offer nasi lemak with different side dish.
This version is with the soft shell crabs. Yeah is the deep fried soft shell crab!!
Nasi or rice are quite less of Santan taste and the rice texture is a little too hard.
Soft shell crab a big highlight in the plate, Crunchy outer layer and juicy inner meat. it was really different from the maki roll at Japanese restaurant that we are only get to eat the deep fried shell instead of the meat. Definitely come back for their soft shell crabs!!
The sambal come with squid and little prawn. The sambal able to cover the imperfection of  rice so i think is a good match with the rice.

 Chendol
This is a great bowl of chendol compare to the one outside.
The gula melaka and santan they used are really perfect match.
Trust me is an interesting bowl that will never want to miss.

Banana waffle with nutella
Okay this really disappointing me. Like seriously.
Got no idea they forgot the banana or just they make a joke out of me.
A crispy texture of waffle but it taste SALTY omg.. .
The saltiness totally cover the taste of Nutella.
Creamy ice cream used make you the whole dessert taste like another main course.

Overall:  Everything taste okay except that waffle. Price are worth every single penny no worries on this.  What i can said it bring our local food to another level.

Tokyo Pastry @ Avenue K

Tokyo Pastry is a good place to had your tea time since it location is convenience but instead of their dessert i give a try on their main course which is the fusion of Japanese and Western cuisine.

 Seafood Aglio Olio RM23
Pasta was cook to Al-Dente but the seasoning are quite disappointing .
Herbs are overpowering others ingredients, the prawn and scallop barely can taste their taste.
Not really worth for a second try,

Tokyo Burger  RM15
Burger with matcha bun and grilled teriyaki chicken come with side salad and huge portion of Chips.
Strong taste of green tea can be tasted and chicken tight are used as the meat part.
Chicken are cook to the right timing and it is well marinate.
Upper bun was perfect but the lower part bun was soaked in teriyaki sauce causes the bun became too soak-y.

Overall, i will stick back to their  dessert, nothing really impressed me in the main course menu.

Fong Lye Taiwanese Restaurant 蓬莱茶房台湾料理 @ The Gardens

Apart from Nana's Green Tea and sushi zanmai, Fong Lye Taiwanese Restaurant is another long queue restaurant in the Gardens. It mainly serving the Taiwanese famous cuisine like 3 Variety Supreme Diced Chicken (三杯鸡)Spare ribs  (红糟排骨). As this restaurant is an non-halal restaurant, so it does offer pork in the meal.

 Sweet Potato Ball (地瓜球)
A overwhelming sweet potato taste once you bite which left a good first impression to the dish/
The deep fried sweet potato ball are not oily and it also have the crispy outer layer and chewy inter layer which make the dish interesting.

BBQ Pork set meal - RM19.80
As a pork lover, this dish actually made me have the will to visit this restaurant once a week.
The pork slice they used are not fatty but they manage to cook at the right tenderness.
Kimchi just like those we can get from all supermarkets nothing taste really special, but it goes along with meal.

3 Variety Supreme Diced Chicken Set (三杯鸡).
I think this is their signature dish, as i look at all the table  8 out of 10 had this dish on their table.
Sauce 三杯鸡 is actually, one "cup" of soy sauce, one "cup" of rice wine and one "cup" of oyster sauce.
Personally thought that the dish are quite salty but it goes really well with rice. Even though I'm not really a big fans of herbs when comes to Chinese cuisine but the herbs did a magic on as it lessen the saltiness and it give a refreshing taste to the chicken.

All Sets come with (white rice or rice with minced meat), 3 side dish of the day and Soup of the day

NANA's GREEN TEA @ The Gardens Mall

Nana's green tea is one of the current long queue restaurant because of their Parfiat. The average waiting hour during the lunch time would be around 15-20 minutes. Even though nana's green tea have a long waiting time but their waiter did a great service to help you during your waiting.

Chicken Karage Curry Udon + Green Tea ( Set Lunch Meal) RM18.8
The udon are soft and the chicken are fried to tender but the only disappointment is the curry are too watery. Slightly thicken curry will make the dish to perfection. Overall are acceptable.
Tori Soboro Don + Green Tea ( Set Meal RM18.8)
Tori Soboro Don is the minced chicken with bean sprout and pouched egg.
This dish gain a two thumbs up and my all time favourite  in this restaurant.
The pouched egg are watery enough to cover the dryness of rice.
The minced meat neither salty or tasteless.
Everything in the bowl accompanied each other well.

Wakame Udon (seaweed Udon)
This udon is a vegetarian choice. Its consists of seaweed, spring onion and egg.
The ingredients may sounds simple but it cooked a perfect bowl of udon.
But too bad this dish is not in the set lunch menu but is a worth for trying.
Matcha Shiratama Parfait @ RM 18.80
The main and popular dish in the shop.
Since Parfait is design for us to taste the different layer in a cup than i will describe it layer by layer
Upper: Whipped Cream + Green Tea Ice Cream + green Tea Cookies + Red Beans
At top layer, the whipped cream are not too oily and red bean are given in a right amount/
Green Tea Ice cream: The exact taste I been searching since i back from Japan.
Whipped Cream and red beans are good to neutralize the slightly bitterness of green tea ice cream.
Cookie. it taste bitter at the first bite but the more you bite the tastier and sweeter it get
Lower: Corn flakes + Vanilla ice cream + Green Tea Jelly.
Vanilla ice cream: a hidden card in the cup. The ice cream taste creamy and milky but they also have the softness and smoothness that found in FroYo.
Corn Flakes: Give a crunchy feel to the ending
Green Tea Pudding: A great hint for ending a dessert, that not that overwhelmed taste,

Even though the price of a Parfait is equal to a set lunch meal but it is a must try dessert in the shop. Friendly staff and a perfect meals are the reason attract me back to Nana's Green Tea.

Tokyo Teppan & Tokyo Don @ Pavillion

Tokyo Teppan / Tokyo Don is actually located at the Tokyo Street of Pavilion. Both shop shares the same menu and there are right beside each and another. Currently, Groupon had made an offer to Tokyo Teppan which you can choose between 5 meals for RM38 for 2 pax.  The 5 set meals include, Grilled Salmon Set, Grilled Saba Set. Shake Don ( fried salmon Don), Chicken Teriyaki Don  amd Chicken Tatsu Don. Each Groupon voucher comes with 2 set meals 2 chawanmushi and 1 green tea ice cream.
Chawanmushi and Salad
Chawanmushi may look simple and plain when served but the egg texture is soft and ingredients used in it was full and rich. Chicken and crab meat can be found in the chawanmushi but too bad it is lack of mushrooms.

The Stir-fried vegetable
Stir-fried vegetable served when you order teppan set. Cabbage, bean sprout, carrot and spring onion can be found. Overall not too oily and dash of black peppers give a boost the dish.
 Grilled Salmon Teppan Set
The Set comes with 2 Piece of Salmon, Tofu, Miso soups, sauce and Fruits.
The Salmon are fresh unlike others tempeyaki shop that sometime you can taste the stink taste.

Chicken Teriyaki Don
Chicken tights  are cook to tender with teriyaki sauce and topped with sesame seed.
Rice below are well prepared neither soggy or hard. it actually taste good even without the teriyaki sauce from chicken.
'

Green Tea Ice Cream
The ice cream are creamy and soft. The taste are less bitter compare to the one outside. A nice wrap up for the meals.

Basically, the offer is worth buying and definitely a worth to visit place even without promotions. Will visit again to try their combo don or ramen.

Ante Kitchen & Bar @ PUBLIKA

Ante Kitchen & Bar is another non-halal western cuisine other than Three Little Pigs& The Big Bad Wolf. Ante Kitchen & bar are famous with their Carbonara but too bad i missed the dish so will go for a try for my next trip there..

 Char-grilled PORK Steak RM33
This is their signature pork chop served with berry-cream sauce and baked potatoes.
The meat they use is pork lion which the part is one of the best part for a pork chop which had the juicy and tender meat.
The berry-cream sauce fits well with the chop.
It will be better if they serve mashed potato than baked potato cause overall meal are too dry.

 Ultimate Pork Belly Sandwich RM29.00
This sandwich consits of well-fried pork ear, tender pork belly, tomato salsa, rocket and comes with fries and salads.
The fried pork ear give a crunchy feel to the sandwich while the pork belly provide the juicy meat.
The tomato salsa give a perfect moisture to the sandwich neither dry or watery.
Hopefully, they will use a larger cut of fries than the McDonald style fries.

Its is a worth visiting restaurant and definitely will visit again for their Carbonara.

Ying Ker Lou 迎客楼 Hakka Cuisine @ The Garden

As an hakka people, sometime you will crave for hakka food and here is definitely can get all the hakka cuisine in one shop- Ying Ker Lou. Its is located at the 2nd Floor of The Garden. This restaurant can be quite busy during peak hours though the food is worth waiting for. Ying Ker Lou doesn't use MSG in prepare food and it is an non-halal restaurant.

P01- 客家算盤子 Hakka Yam Abacus RM22.00
The yam abacus are pan-fried with mushrooms, minced pork, jew's ear, spring onion and fried garlic.
the whole dish taste good but the yam abacus are disappointing as the yam abacus are lack of the yam flavor. Anywhere can get a better Yam abacus than here.

K05-  HAKKA PAN MEE RM 15.90
This is a worth trying dish. It look simple but every drop of soup is treasure.
The shop taste clear neither tasteless or salty, but you can taste it uses anchovies and mushroom to prepare the soup.
The Pan Mee is the thinnest pan mee i ever had, the thinnest give a smooth texture to the pan mee but the taste still remain.

L01- Hakka Minced Pork BanTiao RM15.90
BanTiao for me it is actually taste like pan mee but just in noodle form.
The noodle are cook to just nice and the minced pork fits perfectly with the noodle.
Basically, Hakka people are actually quite a meat eater, and this is the key why we know better in prepare meat.

P34- XIAO LONG BAO WITH RICE WINE (4PCS) RM10.00
Ying Ker Lou xiao long bao are different from din tai fung or dragon-i as you can see it contain wine.
I shouldn't say the XLB contain rice wine, it should be they use rice wine as the soup base in xiao long bao. This is actually an interesting idea as normal xiao long bao we had are salty soup base but the rice wine give a sweet aroma to it.
But, the skin of the bao need a huge improvement.

The serving at Ying Ker Lou are not possible for sharing as it is quite small.

Senya Izakaya 鲜家 @ Publika

This restaurant was hidden at one end of the Publika but the outside was decorated with Japanese Rice wine bottle. The restaurant are run by a Japanese and you're definitely warmly by the shop owner once you step in the shop. The restaurant are divided into 2 part which is the smoking area and the non-smoking area. Basically, customer had to order their food through ipad provided and the serving time are short which even though the restaurant are full house. Give a two thumbs up on service!

Food:

Grilled Pork With Half Boiled Egg Don
This is the must-have in the restaurant which steal my heart and made me forget to take photo of others food .
One little bowl of don had more than 10 pieces of pork slice, half boiled egg, pickled and rice.
the pork slice are grilled to a slightly crispy but the fat still remain it juiciness. Pork slice are grilled with teriyaki sauce and sprinkle with sesame seed, teriyaki bought up the sweetness of the pork and sesame give a nice ending for the pork. Japanese rice are used in the don and it are cooked to perfection.

Pork Neck Skewer RM5.50
This is one of the recommendation of the day. It differ from the don it because this was just grilled with salt which let you taste the original taste of the meat but their grilling skill are fabulous. One skewer consist of 3 piece of pork neck so its basically quite worth the price.

Shoyu Ramen RM1x
This ramen look simple on the menu but this is the taste i had been i longing and must have when my trip to Japan,
The ramen come with 2 slice of char siew, seaweed, fish cake and spring onions.
The soup base taste clear but it remain it sweetness and pork are well cooked till it melts in mouth

Senya Izakaya not only offer the variety on pork but they also do prepare variety of seafood. So, please do try out the restaurant even though you're not a big fan of pork.

 Total  Bill Cost:
1 Shoyu Ramen
1 Pork Neck Skewer
1 Grilled Pork With Half Boiled Egg Don
1 Ashashi Beer
1 Green Tea
 + Tax
RM79

Personally think that the price range are affordable and it totally worth every single penny you paid!

東源海鮮餐室(Restaurant Tong Juan Seafood) @ Kemaman

This time we will get a little out of KL. Last week i went to the restaurant Tong Juan Seafood for a taste since it been famous for a long time. Since I visited the restaurant after I had my buffet at hotel so i just tried their signature dish. The Garlic Grilled Tiger Prawn and Stuffed Crab

 Garlic Grilled Tiger Prawn RM12/100g
Tiger Prawn are grilled and topped with fried garlic.
Prawn taste fresh but there are no garlic taste in the prawn since they cook separately
Stuffed Crab RM9/piece
Stuffed crab is actually they stuff and fried the crab shell with fresh crab meat and some vegetable.
Since it fried so it was kinda oily.
Those who enjoy crab meats but a lazy bum, this is a good dish to let you enjoy your favourite.

Well, basically those who haven't tried before and go for a try,
But all i can said is the price are getting higher since past years so personally doesn't really recommend if you are decent meals.

The Thai Authority @ KLCC

The Thai Authority is actually one of the cheap eat in KLCC and it also convinience as they do prepare box for take away. But this time i will eat in the shop as i got few hours before my movie.

 TomYam with Prawn.  RM15
This little bowl of tomyam contain 9 medium size prawn in it which is quite worth the price
soup was spicy and less sour which quite disappointing.

Pad Thai with chicken RM13
This is my favourite dish in this restaurant.
Pad Thai is actually stir-fried Thailand rice noodle topped with some crashed nuts.
The crashed nuts give a crispy feel to the noodle and the lime give some sour taste to the noodle which give a boost to the noodle.

Miss Ellie Tea House @ Taman Melawati

This tea house is hidden in a resident area and it quite difficult to find sine it doesn't had a obvious signboard. The interior was designed like a classic old english house (https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.477580418959205.119827.433970049986909&type=3) , it is a perfect place for those who like to photo. The shop owner is kind enough prepare coat and hat for the gentleman to photograph and ladies please do wear a dress yourself as they doesn't prepare dresses :P

The table cover look nice but the main point is the drink.
The Cold Brewed Coffee RM7.50 This is not too hard to swallow not that sour as other cold coffee
The Fruit Juice of the Day * can't rmb the price*
The juice of the day i had is Pineapple, Passion Fruit and Basil combination. The juice taste rich not too sweet nor sour. It's good to start the meal.
Lamb Shank Pot Pie (RM18.50)
This is the recommended by Nancy, the lady boss.
The lamb was cook to tender. It melts in your mouth.
Salad beside was mix with balsamic vinegar  it give some sour taste but goes well.

chicken parmigiana.*Cant rmb the price but certainly below 15*
The chicken was fried with bread crumb and parmesan cheese.
It is a simple but satisfying dish.

Pandan Pann Cotta RM7.5 or RM8.5 *Sorry about my bad memory*
This is a MUST-TRY.
Its a really creamy dessert but at the same time the refreshing pandan taste still remain,
The gula melaka, melon and strawberry give another boost to the dessert.

Miam Miam @ 1Utama

Okay if this is my first food review and i didn't write about Miam Miam then everything goes wrong. Mian Mian are one of the most frequent restaurant I had visit for the past years. Miam Miam is the fusion of Japanese and Western cuisine.

Caramelised Banana MYR19.80
Well this is one of the recommendation from Miam Miam menu.
This is not my favourite cause the not a big fan of caramel >.>
but thrust me this will be a big hit for those who like sweet.

  Lobster Bisque Pasta RM29.80
Calling all the seafood lover for this dish. The spaghetti are cooked to al dente and the base are the key for this spaghetti. *Every time my mom order this, she finish all the base without sharing*  The tiger prawn is what you will be craving for more after,

 Apple & Granola RM19.80.
This is the one that I personally prefer than the Caramelised Banana.
The softness of the ice cream, the milky taste of the pancake and the slightly sour and crispy apple are the perfect match for each other. At least its not too sweet.

Here come the signature FRENCH TOAST! RM16.80
Peeps who going to try this. According to the waiter there is better to go on a weekdays as the waiting time only 20min but weekend and public holiday would be 1HOUR! *See the waiting time also know how famous is the dish to customer.*
French toast are worth trying as it are not too oily after it fried. The cream are soft and not too sweet.

All Miam Miam food are serve in a large portion. If you're light eater, you can share the food.
